"Sybil" Afterthought

I was doing some writing in my journal tonight; I am a prolific journaler, and this thought occurred to me about why I had trouble with Sybil the other night. There will probably be more opinions later after watching it again, but here's the first one.

In A Shattered Mind, Heather Locklear is totally believeable as a multiple. In the movie, she is multiple. She was able to catch what DID is like so well that if I didn't know better I would've said she really is multiple in real life. I think that's why I am drawn to the movie over and over again.

In Sybil, Tammy Blanchard played a role. She played it fairly well, but she was acting. She played a multiple, but she wasn't one. She did the different voices, the different mannerisms, and the different ages and sexes. But it was a part she was playing in a movie about multiplicity.

It's just my opinion. And again, maybe I'll see things differently after I watch it again.

But those are my thoughts for tonight.

I've not seen A Shattered Mind, but I didn't like the Sybil remake movie either. I thought it was very poorly done and tried to cram an original 4-hour miniseries into 2 hours with commercials. It just wasn't great acting and they made DID look crazy and unstable. I just thought the original was so much better.

I have never seen another one except the one with Shelly Long about the lives of Truddi Chase. I tried reading the book too but it was difficult to follow and I put it down. I have read Third Person Plural too. Someone told me Robin Williams was doing a movie about that one but that was years ago and I've never seen it.

I haven't seen the one about Truddi Chase either although I read the book. I didn't have a problem following the book because it reminded me a lot of what was going on inside my head at the time. Funny how different we all are.

I didn't see the original of Sybil either and I would like to see that. Maybe one of these days I'll get these things all located and get my chance to see them.

I couldn't put into words what I didn't like about the Sybil remake the other night on tv, but you did so very well. I agree with you. I like the original much better.

havent seen it, but have seen when rabbit howls and that was ok but we had troubler at tiems following trudys story but totally understood the internal shit so well.
Guess we are over MPD movies having lived with multiplicity for so long we do know one thing no one can ever understand anotehr but only relate in circumstance as every system is different and unique to them and their circumstances
